Stavros: One of Akrotiri ornaments

Stavros is a quiet seaside resort located in the northeastern part of Akrotiri. It’s a vacation selection point because it is near both the airport and the port. There are also apartments, hotels, restaurants and beaches.

The beach of Stavros is fully organized with sunbeds, it is safe and shallow. It is mainly a sheltered beach as it is situated inside the bay, fully protected from winds.

The charming seaside village of Stavros inspired the American actor Fredric March to be made a film the legendary book of Nikos Kazantzakis, Zorbas the Greek. Indeed in the 60’s a Greek-British production directed by Michael Cacoyannis and starring Anthony Quinn, turns the idea of March into reality while dancing on Stavros beach the legendary Sirtaki, by the music of Mikis Theodorakis.
